In an open letter to the company’s employees, Xiaomi’s founder and CEO Lei Jun reflected on last year’s performance. Posted on his personal Weibo account, Jun’s letter revealed that the company had sold over 61 million smartphones in 2014, TechinAsia reports.

Lei Jun said that Xiaomi had sold 61.12 million smartphones in the last year alone, which is a whopping 227 percent increase from the year before. The company posted revenues of RMB 74.3 billion ($12 billion approximately), which too is a whopping 135 percent rise from the year before. Xiaomi recently raised $1.1 billion in funding, which shot the company’s valuation up to $45 billion.

Going forward, Jun aims at selling 100 million smartphones this year. The first smartphone this year is the Redmi 2, which was announced earlier today. He also reiterated that the company’s flagship device will be unveiled later this month on January 15.

In India, Xiaomi has had a stellar year since its debut in the second half of 2014. In five months since its debut in India, Xiaomi managed to sell a million devices. It launched the Mi 3, entry-level Redmi 1S, and two affordable phablets — Redmi Note and Redmi Note 4G. The Mi 3 has been discontinued, while a Delhi High Court order has banned the company from selling any MediaTek powered smartphone — the Redmi Note 3G. The ban was in conjunction with a patent infringement claim by Ericsson. Next week for the first time ever, Xiaomi will have two smartphones on sale on Flipkart including the Redmi 1S and the Redmi Note 4G.
