CES 2015: Seagate Unveiled 500GB wireless Storage Solution for Mobile Devices

Seagate has unveiled a new wireless storage solution for mobile devices. Dubbed as Seagate Wireless, the new device can store up to 500GB of content and works with Android, iOS and Windows 8 devices.

“Seagate pioneered the product category of wireless storage devices and is pleased at how the category has grown over the years. The latest generation of Seagate Wireless extends that legacy and makes the wireless streaming experience broadly available to far more consumers,” said Patrick Connolly, vice president of Seagate branded innovations.

Seagate Wireless comes with its own Wi-Fi network, which is used to access or stream content on the connected devices. The drive is accessed using the Seagate mobile app, which is available in Google Play (and app stores of other platforms).

“Seagate Wireless can also be used to enjoy video, photos, music and even documents on the big screen via Apple Airplay, Google Chromecast, or an app designed specifically for Samsung and LG Smart TVs and Roku players,” Seagate noted in a press note.

The Seagate Wireless 500GB will be available via Amazon, Best Buy and Seagate.com in the United States beginning early-Feb for $129.99 in  lime green, cool blue, slate grey, fire-engine red and white colour options. There is no word on the pricing and availability for other markets right now.
