Nepal Earthquake:Airtel and BSNL Offering Free Call and at Local Call rates from India to Nepal for 48 hours

All India to Nepal calls on Airtel network will be free of cost from midnight for the next 48 hours effective from 00:00 hrs 26 April, announces Airtel. This is to enable the customers across the country to reach their families and friends in Nepal, who are struck in the country due to massive earthquake.

Besides making the call rates, Airtel has also conveyed their condolence to all who lost their lives at the earthquake.

Nearly 918 deaths are reported from Nepal (as of the latest) due to the earthquake that shook the nation at a magnitude of 7.8, near Lamjung, Nepal. Many are injured and feared to be trapped under the leveled buildings. India too experienced the tremor during the morning hours.

BSNL too has announced a similar offer for calls to Nepal, offering only local call rates for the next three days. BSNL’s decision to cut call rates was taken following a meeting chaired by the Cabinet Secretary and with the approval of Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.

BSNL will Offer Unlimited Free Calling from Landline To any number in India From 1st May

BSNL has announced an unlimited free calling scheme for its landline users that will allow them to call any landline and mobile number across service providers in India from May 1.

“This unlimited free night calling shall be available from 9 pm to 7 am,” a company statement said on.

The scheme, seen to help BSNL boost its landline business, covers all major landline general plans of rural and urban areas, landline special plans and all major combo (landline and broadband) plans.

“BSNL landline phone offers voice clarity. Now landline customers can make unlimited calls comfortably anywhere in India to all networks from 9 pm to 7 am without paying call charges,” the statement added.
According to latest data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai), BSNL, which dominates the landline market, was the biggest loser of fixed-line customers in February while Airtel emerged as top gainer.

The company had over 1.66 crore landlines at the end of February. Even after losing 162,556 landline customers in February, the company dominated the market with 62.26 per cent share.

Xiaomi conducted its first global event in India today, and launched the Xiaomi Mi 4i in India at a price of Rs. 12,999. The Mi 4i is 12 percent thinner and 13 percent lighter than the Xiaomi Mi 4.

The Xiaomi Mi 4i is a dual-SIM smartphone, and comes with a polycarbonate unibody, a 5-inch full-HD display, Android 5.0 Lollipop-based MIUI 6, octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, and a 3,120 mAh battery. It features a 13-megapixel primary camera with dual-tone dual-LED flash, 1080p video recording, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. MIUI 6 on the Mi 4i supports six Indian languages including Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.

Its primary SIM card slot supports 4G LTE networks, while the secondary SIM car slot supports 2G and 3G networks. This means that it will be the second dual-SIM device from all the Xiaomi mobiles to have 4G LTE connectivity after the Redmi 2.
