CES 2015 :VeiwSonic V55 Smartphone To Be Launched with Iris Scanner
The past year saw quite a few smartphone companies embrace the fingerprint scanner, and it is only natural they take things a step forward. Leading the line is ViewSonic which is set to unveil a smartphone featuring an iris scanner, GizmoChina reports.
ViewSonic’s smartphone called the V55 features a scanner on the upper-right corner, which is hidden by a sliding component. Once you have mapped your iris, the scanner can be used to unlock the smartphone, as well as lock files. Just like fingerprints, iris scanners too are foolproof and cannot be cloned.
As for specifications, the V55 flaunts a 5.5-inch full HD 1080p display, and is powered by a 64-bit 1.4GHz Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor paired with Adreno 306 GPU and 2GB of RAM. Also included are 16GB and 32GB internal storage and LTE capabilities.
On the photography front, the smartphone features a 13-megapixel rear camera sourced from Sony. The camera also has the capability to accept external lenses.
ViewSonic had originally planned on launching the smartphone in 2014, but its plans were delayed. According to the publication, the company is expected to unveil the smartphone at CES next week.
