Karbonn Launched Titanium X Android Smartphone Priced at ₹ 18,490

image

Just a month back, Indian mobile handset maker Karbonn had teased potential customers with a few images of its upcoming mid ranged Android based handset Titanium X. Now the wraps have been taken off the phone. The new device is priced at Rs. 18,490. To a little surprise, it’s a single micro-SIM device as most phones in this segment come equipped with dual SIM.

Here are the other key features of the smartphone-

Display- 5-inch (1080×1920 pixels) full-HD IPS display

Processor-1.5GHz quad-core processor with unknown chipset

Camera- 13-megapixel rear autofocus camera with dual LED flash, 5-megapixel front-facing camera for self shots and video chats

SIM- Single SIM (micro-SIM)

Memory- 1GB of RAM, 16GB of inbuilt storage, with further expansion capability up to 32GB via microSD card.

Operating System- Android 4.2 Jelly Bean

Connectivity- NFC support, micro USB, Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi

Battery- 2300mAh Li ion battery to provide up to 6 hours of talktime, and up to 240 hours of standby time

Sensors- proximity sensor, G sensor, magnetic sensor, gyro sensor, and light sensor

The device comes in black and white colors. With its price, it makes a good buy as it is the ‘affordable’ smartphone from an Indian brand to have NFC support. Apart from this, a good quality rear and front camera and a wide range of sensors make it further attractive. With the device, the company has tried to position itself as one which can not just bring out affordable devices but the one which can also offer tough challenge to other established players through its products.

As customary in the segment, the device will bear the brunt of competition from the likes of Micromax Canvas Turbo A250 and Gionee Elife E6. Let’s see how the it fares against all these.

TATA Docomo Hiked 2G Data Rates and Revised 3G Data Plans

TATA Docomo has been silent for almost a year even when all other operators hiked 2G rate Rs 125 or above for 1GB. The time has finally come, Docomo has revised 2G data packs to be in par with its rivals.

Docomo now gives only 750MB for Rs 95 21 days pack and 1GB comes at a cost of Rs 126 for 25 days and Rs 139 for 30 days. Similarly 1.5GB pack comes at Rs 148 for 25 days and Rs 159 for 30 days. The largest pack now available is Rs 249 for 3GB 45 days. Docomo has also revised some small packs too. Rs 16 pack revised to 120MB for 3 days and Rs 31 pack to 250MB for 7 days. Also hiked 500MB data pack to Rs 69 for 12 days.

On 3G front Docomo was offering double usage for most data packs. So didn’t respond when Reliance, Aircel and BSNL lowered 3G rates to 2G level. But Docomo was missing 1GB pack as it was offering double usage of 1GB + 1GB on Rs 255 pack. Now they have introduced Rs 175 1GB 30 days data pack to fill the gap. The tariff is higher than Aircel, BSNL and Relaince 3G 1GB packs, but are much lower compared to Airtel, Idea and Vodafone 3G packs.

It is for this reason that we have paid special attention to the specific requirements of our consumers who hail from semi-urban and interior parts of India and tailor made the MX100 Leader,” Krishna Singh, COO, Maxx Mobile is quoted as saying.

Even as Maxx has launched a new feature phone, the company earlier this year launched two dual-SIM smartphones – AX8 Race and AX9Z Race – priced at Rs. 8,875 and Rs. 12,375 respectively.

With growing popularity of smartphones, especially the budget ones, sales of feature phones has seen a drastic slide. According to the latest IDC report, share of feature phones has slid to 81% of the total market in

Another report by CyberMedia says feature phone sales declined by 0.8 percent – for a first time – in July-Sept 2013.
