Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 and Mi 5 Specifications and images leaked

It has been widely reported that Xiaomi is working on the flagship Mi 5 and the Redmi Note 2 phablet. While there have been numerous leaks in the past, we might now have our first clear look at both the smartphones.

Purported photos of the Mi 5 and the Redmi Note 2 made their way on to Chinese micro blogging website Weibo over the weekend. The alleged Mi 5 photo shows the rear of the smartphone, and hints at a rather interesting feature — dual-camera setup.

Smartphones like HTC’s flagships and the Honor 6 Plus boast a similar dual-camera setup, and Apple too is widely rumored to be opting for a similar camera setup on its iPhone 6S. The leaked photo shows the smartphone sporting two camera lens and dual-LED flash on the top-right corner, and the Mi logo is seen towards the bottom. The overall design is quite similar to the Mi 4, albeit with the camera setup.

The Redmi Note 2 photo, on the other hand, reiterates the presence of a fingerprint scanner at the back. The scanner is placed below the camera lens and LED flash. The photo also reveals that the Redmi Note 2 body will be made of plastic, which is not very surprising considering its price segment.

Mi 5 is being internally called ‘Libra’ and is likely to flaunt a 5.3-inch QHD (2560×1440 pixels) display. It will also feature a Snapdragon 820 64-bit processor, 4GB of RAM, 16GB/64GB internal storage, 3,030mAh battery, and a fingerprint scanner.

The Redmi Note 2 is likely to flaunt a 5.5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display, and could be powered by a MediaTek Helio X10 chipset. The phablet is also likely to feature a 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera, 3,000mAh battery, LTE support, and run on Android Lollipop wrapped under MIUI 6.
