With all the holi mix tapes and bhaang ingredients being prepared, people tend to forget about their smartphones and the harm they are exposed to on Holi. As much as we love the festival, our smartphones are sensitive to wear and tear as we go all carefree with water colors. Using zip-lock pouches, waterproof cases, smartskin condoms and nano-coating spray are handy tips and tricks for all smartphone user, but if you want to be absolutely carefree during Holi this year, I will recommend you to invest in one these five smartphones that can easily survive the festival.

The Moto G (2015) does not really have waterproof certification, but it is nano-coated. This means that the Moto G can handle the pichkari sprays and water balloon hits – it can afford to get a little wet. However, keeping it in your soaked pockets for long wouldn’t be such a good idea.

The new Moto G flaunts a 5-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) display with Gorilla Glass protection, and is powered by a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM. Even though HTC does not claim that the One (M8) is waterproof, several reports say a different story. The One (M8) has come out of several water tests with flying colors. Its water resistant abilities are attributed to its compact built, which allows the One (M8) to resist water ingress to an extent, but that doesn’t mean it was designed to do so. After these reports started to fly, HTC’s Jeff Gordon explained on Twitter that the One (M8) actually does have an IP rating of IPx3.

The HTC One (M8) IPx3 rating means it’s protected from water spray up to 60 degrees at 10l per minute, pressure of 80-100kN/m2 up to 5 mins.

The talking point of the One (M8) is the Duo Camera at the back, which is essentially a 4-UltraPixel primary camera with dual-LED flash and another module, which works as a depth sensor. For selfies, the phone sports a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with BSI sensor and f/2.0 aperture for a better photography experience.
