Umi Chinese Mobile Vender To enter India via Flipkart
After Motorola and Xiaomi, Chinese vendor Umi Mobiles has also decided to enter India via Flipkart. GizChina reports the company will march into the Indian markets with the Umi Zero smartphone.
The report fails to give out any other details over the timeline of the launch or the price range in which the smartphone will be launched. Umi Zero retails at $299 on the online store (which converts to approximately Rs 18,500).
As far as the specifications are concerned, the Umi Zero sports a 5-inch IPS display with 1920×1080 pixel resolution. It is powered by a 2GHz octa-core processor paired with a 2GB RAM. The smartphone houses 16GB of internal memory, and also has a 64GB variant.
The camera has a 13-megapixel rear sensor with super-wide f/1.8 lens and a dual LED flash, and an 8-megapixel front snapper. The battery on the phone is at 2,400mAh, and runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat. The phone is ultra-slim at 6.4mm and weighs just 140 grams. Connectivity wise, the phone does not support 4G, but it has dual-SIM, 3G support, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
Umi Zero with its high-end specs will be positioned in the same affordable segment as the other Chinese vendors that have made its entry into India last year. Considering the specifications, the Umi Zero could be up against the recently launched Xiaomi Mi 4. The 2014 flagship device will be going on sale next week, priced at Rs 19,999. It remains to be seen how the Umi Zero fairs in the country’s competitive market.
