Toshiba has today launched a new tablet in India called WT-8. The Windows 8.1 tablet is priced at Rs 15,490, and the device has gone on sale today exclusively on Amazon India.

As far as specifications are concerned, the Toshiba WT-8 flaunts an 8-inch WXGA (1280×800 pixels) display and is powered by an Intel Atom Z3735G quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM. Also included is 32GB internal storage that can be further expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.

On the photography front, the tablet features a 5-megapixel rear camera, supplemented by a 1.2-megapixel camera at the front. The tablet also features a battery that the company claims is good enough for up to 11 hours, Dolby Digital Plus audio, and connectivity options like Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. On the software front, the tablet runs on Windows 8.1, and comes preloaded with apps like Xbox Music and Video, Kindle Reader, Skype and a one-year free subscription to Office 365.

The Toshiba WT-8 is likely to face some competition from the likes of the Notion Ink Cain 8 tablet, which too runs on Windows 8.1 and is much lighter on the pockets — Rs 9,990. It features an 8-inch WXGA display, Intel Z3735F quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal memory which is expandable up to 64GB via microSD. The tablet also features 2-megapixel rear camera, 4,000mAh battery, and connectivity options like 3G support, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.
