Gionee Launched Elife S5.1 Slim and Light 4G LTE Enabled Android 4.4 Smartphone At Rs 17,549
The Elife S5.1 is very slim and is also one of the lightest Android smartphones featuring metal and glass construction”
Mobile device maker Gionee is yet to announce the launch of its slim Android smartphone the Gionee Elife S5.1. However, the device has already started selling through eBay India for an asking price of Rs 17,549. The device that have been made available for sale carries Gionee India warranty, which affirms that the units are official products.
The Gionee Elife S5.1 is the successor to the Gionee Elfie S5.5 , which was crowned as the slimmest Android smartphone last year until being dethroned by the Elife S5.1 itself. Despite being a mere 5.1mm thick, the Elife S5.1 is still not the slimmest Android smartphone in the world as Oppo’s R5 (first impressions) smartphone recently took away that title by offering a device that is just 4.85mm thick. Nevertheless, Gionee and its designers have tried to offer a slim device which providing full functionality, while the Oppo R5 had to do away with a standard 3.5mm audio socket to attain a slimmer body.
Compared to the predecessor, the Gionee Elife S5.1 comes with lowered hardware specifications and can be considered as a mid-ranger as far as Android smartphones go. It’s powered using a 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400 MSM8926 quad-core processor, coupled with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which is non-expandable. The device is based on a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display bearing a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels.
However, with the new chip, the device gets 4G/LTE network compatibility and will support the 2,300 MHz band offering next-generation cellular network compatibility to its users. In terms of shooting prowess, the device sports an 8-megapixel unit at the back and a 5-megapixel unit on the front.
Even though the smartphone has been made available for sale, we think that the price is expected to be lower when it’s launched officially. With the official announcement being long overdue, we expect some news around it very soon.
